How to overcome bad runs
Publish date: November 29, 2020

Bad runs happen to all of us. We can not control a bad beat. However, We are responsible for prolonging that bad runs. Most of the time, we are the ones who extend that losing streak whether we wish to admit it or not.

Overcoming it is the key. But to overcome it is to face your demons. Do you wish to be a winner?

Here are some tips for overcoming bad runs.

1. Stop making excuses

You can blame anyone and everyone, you could blame the dealer or how unlucky you are. But if you are playing poker. Then there is no one to blame but yourself.

If you are a winning player, then you would not have a bad run. Period.

The best pros right now would oftentimes admit they have holes to plug in their game.

Daniel Negreanu even admits he would play online to plugs leaks in his game.

Here is Daniel Negreanu, a bracelet holder, and a multi-awarded poker player. He admits he has leaks in his games from time to time which he tries to fix. To claim or to make any excuse on your bad run is to say you are better than the pros.

Then why do you have a losing streak?

2. Once again, Stop making excuses

You can say you can do what others do. You can say anything. But if you want to get rid of your bad run, then stop making excuses.

If you are losing, then you are losing.

3. Stop hanging with people who would console you. Only your ego will be healed, not your game.

People do not understand, you are trying your best. Nobody wants to lose. What else?

Yes, you can drink with people. drown your sorrows. be with people who understand you. But ask yourself, will doing that help your game?

Would you prefer to lose millions first as long as you can keep that one guy who would kiss your behind and praise you for how great you rather than start winning your game?

Nobody will help you except yourself.

4. The past is the past, players change, poker change.

You could have been a champion one time. Maybe you could have also been a great player once.

But poker grew. people grew.

Even fishes learned from their mistakes. Are you saying your perfect?

5. Do not let one win get over your head

One of the biggest reasons you have a bad run is that you let one win go to your head.

Of course, you can win.  Without that element of luck, poker would be boring.

However, there is a difference between you getting better than you getting lucky.

Understand the difference.

6. Do you have a good lifestyle? if not, change it!

After a bad day, what do you do?

Do you drink and look for people to justify your actions? or do you compare notes?

Are you sharing only your hand? Did you sleep well or eat healthily?

Poker is a mind game, keeping a healthy mind is important.

7. Stop blaming the cards!

I had aces and I was just unlucky.

Poker was never only about your cards. Do you know the ranges of your opponent? Was your raise too small or too big?

8. Study, practice

A lot of players have changed their game. have you? You do not have enough funds to practice? go online.

1234 poker has blinds like 0.05/0.10
