Publish date: October 13, 2020

How are you poker playas!

It is the first week of October, and it is the mental health awareness week.

The past few months have been tough on a lot of people. When Covid-19 spread, and it became a pandemic. A lot of countries have enforced a lockdown to contain the disease.

A lot of jobs were lost, and a lot of people are trying to make ends meet. It is difficult no matter how strong you are. That is why make sure you keep your mental health strong.

What is mental health?

“Mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.” – according to the World Health Organization.

Mental health is “more than just the absence of mental disorders or disabilities.” Peak mental health is about not only avoiding active conditions but also looking after ongoing wellness and happiness.

It is being healthy mentally and not succumbing to mental illness like depression.

Yes, it is a tough world out there especially now. Hence reach out to your friends or family member if you are having a hard time.

Watch out for the symptoms or early warning signs.

Not sure if you or someone you know is living with mental health problems? Experiencing one or more of the following feelings or behaviors can be an early warning sign of a problem:

  • Eating or sleeping too much or too little
  • Pulling away from people and usual activities
  • Having low or no energy
  • Feeling numb or like nothing matters
  • Having unexplained aches and pains
  • Feeling helpless or hopeless
  • Smoking, drinking, or using drugs more than usual
  • Feeling unusually confused, forgetful, on edge, angry, upset, worried, or scared
  • Yelling or fighting with family and friends
  • Experiencing severe mood swings that cause problems in relationships
  • Having persistent thoughts and memories you can’t get out of your head
  • Hearing voices or believing things that are not true
  • Thinking of harming yourself or others
  • Inability to perform daily tasks like taking care of your kids or getting to work or school

Stay positive

Understand the signs, be careful with what you do.

Eat right, exercise, and talk to your friends.

Times may be hard, but we can do this together.

This week we would feature more things to help you cope with mental fatigue, especially for poker players.
