The CoronaVirus has disrupted the live poker scene. Social distancing or physical distancing is highly advised to lessen the transmission of the disease. Organizers are now adapting to holding poker tours online.
The idea of having a poker tour online to help players stay home is not totally new. An Indian poker site held online events years ago while WSOP has bracelet events that can only be played online. Organizers are now adapting to the new system in order to fill the gap.
Currently, these are the top 3 events we have received.
Note: Poker tours are a whole series of events.
J88PT
J88 started as an online poker site and later ventured into the live poker tour scene. J88PT is the main branch that handles live events.
Their live events were successful and there was a schedule for a live poker tour last march but was canceled due to the Corona Virus.
Their market is an Asian base which gives them a good advantage and they already have active players online.
They held the first J88PT Millionaire series last December which gain a lot of numbers. The ideology is Big guarantee and small buy-in to attract the market. they may be the most affordable main event compared to other online event tours being announced right now which makes it attractive.
We will update more details as soon as possible.
Asian Poker Tour/Natural 8
APT General Manager and Executive Tournament Director, Lloyd Fontillas said,
“As a land based operator, I have put together a schedule mimicking our great tournament structures fit for our regular players with many different buy in options. Starting times will vary from event to event in order for players to concentrate on one event of their choice within the day. As for the online grinders that love to multi table, Natural8 will still continue to hosts their great guaranteed daily events running beside the APT schedule.
Keeping the action going for the sake of the game we all love here in Asia. We are really excited to do this inaugural event with Natural8 as a partner, who has been supporting us since 2017.”
Note: Players from the Philippines need to use VPN
